Paleo diets have become all the rage. No matter where you stand on this, you may want to try these paleo snack ideas. This can be a way to ease yourself into eating like a caveman.


First, here’s my main criteria:

  • Tasty – if I don’t like how it tastes, I probably won’t care about the next part
  • Nutritious – how good is it for me? I plan to write more about the Paleo diet and why it’s good to pick up a few tips – even if you don’t go “hard core”
  • Convenience – we’re all busy, so if I have to spend hours shopping, then prepping / keeping it fresh.. AND still figure out a way to keep it handy for when I get the munchies.. then, it’s likely to fail!

Nuts and Seeds

Probably the best way to meet our criteria. These are simple and can be the easiest option to find without a bunch of food additives and preservatives. While there’s a ton of health benefits and nutrients, too much of a good thing is just that. So, even with the antioxidants and fiber, go easy –

Energy Bars

Today there are almost as many snack and protein bars as nutritional supplements. You can spend hours looking at ingredient lists and still be left wondering which ones make sense for Paleo diets.

Fruit Snacks

While usually included in kid’s lunches or afternoon snacks, rollups or “fruit leather” can still be a great choice for Paleo, if you avoid ones with excess simple sugars and no fiber.


It’s tough to find good jerky without having to buy an expensive food dehydrator and making your own. Too many store bought brands of jerky have sugar or added preservatives.

Fruit and Vegetable Chips

Giving up your favorite stuff sucks but it doesn’t have to be totally painful. Many fruit and veggie chips can offer healthier and lighter options without costing a lot of money.
